JONATHAN MASHINGAIDZE : A MESSAGE OF HOPE

Jonathan Mashingaidze a young man from Mutasa District,Watsomba talked to this publication on his blossoming horney as an upcoming gospel artist.Like many Gospel artists we have met, Jonathan also started singing at a very young age.Raised in a family of Christians by the time he reached grade two the soft spoken young man  was already trying this vocal chords in the local sunday school choir.

"..so far i have mananged to record two singles..."

Whilst many upcoming artists struggle for support among their family members,Jonathan seems to have been accepted well as his family has proved to be his number one fans.This might have been due to his type of music and message.Whilst other young men are into hardcore dancehall music, filled with profanity and violance,Jonathan with his Anglican roots intact embarked on a solo journey to spread the gospel in its pureness .

His music is a blend of Vabvuwi Ngoma neHosho ensemble with a bled of modern Gospel instruments.Unlike many of Anglican musicians whom prefer their African traditional instruments like ngoma and hosho,the young man included some keyboards and modern instruments thereby coming up with a unique type of Gospel Music.

His group members are Shepard Mashingaidze,Rev Walter Majoni and Evangelist Forward Matasva and they make up The core of DESTINY HELPERS.Inspired by Gospel Diva Dorcas Moyo,Winnet Marevanadzo,Namatai Chinyerere,and the Nama Award Winning Gospel Crooner Pastor Blessing Shumba,the young man highlighted the need to Ramain hopefull in these trying times.

"...muKristu Usanete; we are encouraging everyone to pray and never lose hope,chikonzero kune hope dzedima dzisingaonekwi..."

Asked about what we can expect from Him during the year,the young crooner could not divulge his plans but highlighted that he had plenty to offer interms of music and videos..

"...to our fellow fans i would like to say Covid is Real,mask up.We would want to see you alive at our live shows after this lockdown..."

SINATRA PADERA : A HAIRDRESSER IN GOSPEL MUSIC

 Hair dressing and singing seem to be two professions that are worlds apart but for one lady she has found a way of doing both.For those familiar with Mutare there is this popular place called (Moto Moto) ,a controversial place for many but for Sinatra Padera its her Workplace. There she works as a Hair dresser and This reporter had Time To talk to her on how she came to release Gospel music when most of the time she spends doing peoples hair.

Sinatra Padera was Born in Marange Bocha and now lives in Chikanga Mutare.A single mother of 2 Kids and she is the sixth in a Family of six siblings.

"...i started singing when i was very young such that i participated much in church choir.i am a seventh day adventist church member..."

The seemingly shy  lady smiled as we asked her who inspired her to temporarily leave the hairdresser chair for the studio mic.It is clear that from growing up she had the talent but only time and resources limited her .Like many female Zimbabwean gospel artists she grew up listening to Mercy Mutsvene,Mai Charamba and Also the Nama Award winning Pastor Blessing Shumba.

Sinatra has 9 songs to her name and just released her debut studio video for one of her singles  Vimba naJehovha and is already available on YouTube. The ever smiling Padera  highlighted many struggles she faced in starting her career.

"...at first most people failed to believe in me.They thought i can not sing gospel music.This was because i don't look like a gospel artist,this was because handizviratidze kuti ndinoziva nezve bible.Hapana aimbofunga kuti ndinoruka ndichiimbira Mwari..,"

Sinatra Padera highlighted that many doubted her capabilities in being a gospel artist  with many saying a hair dresser can never sing gospel music.A big challenge indeed of being degraded.

"...to my fans do not hesitate to preach the gosple even though ther are many who may try to discourage you.Do not let anyone pull you down when you are doing something good.Just press on and aim higher and wait for God's time.Dont be discouraged and always ask yourself what God is saying.,,"

It seems the boundaries have been broken ladies anyone can sing gosple music nomatter what you do.Hairdressing ,teaching, welding the list goes on.Anyone can answer the calling.

Malvern Tafirenyika Releases Debut Video

 Upcoming gospel artists seem to struggle when it comes to Releasing videos,but Mr Malvern Tafirenyika seems to have overcome this huge challenge after Releasing his debut video called Dai Zvaibvira.Today we caught up with this passionate Gospel artist and had time to talk to him about his challenges as an upcoming Artist.He had this to say;

"...Malvern Tafirenyika was born in a family of two, and grew up as a singer in the school choir in both secondary and primary level.Raised in a musical family were his father is a lead guitarist..."

The video Dai Zvaibvira which was shot in Mutare was Directed by Kunashe Media Pro stands to be one of the Best to come from this young man.In the song the passionate Tafirenyika is expressing his feelings towards Jesus for his Grace and love.Those who are well natured in bible verses can quickly notice that its an adaptation from the book of John (1st John 3.13).

Just like any upcoming artist we asked him about his struggles in coming up with the video and song and it seems the song  waas composed many years prior to release but he faces challenges when it came to quality production

"...the song was composed way back and i tried many studios but their productions were not as i expected until i came to Mutare,i can simply say the project was very smooth and simple.."

Tafirenyika highlighted that his videos and single is now available on Youtube and Thanked his fans for continuously supporting his fledgling career.He also encouraged us to stay safe and mask up as we fight the corona virus pandemic.
